The STI story began with a challenge made by a school headteacher who wanted to stop false fire alarms. Founder, Jack Taylor, used his expertise in security systems to invent the original Stopper® protective cover.
Today, exhibitions continue to be an important part of the STI calendar, from London and Paris to Dubai and Kuala Lumpur.
2306 Airport Road still remains the home of STI Corporate Headquarters over three decades later.
Born in Canada and raised in England, Founder Jack Taylor played an influential role in the founding of STI in the UK in 1994 - opening to service the whole of Europe.
In the manual call point heartland, STI introduced the innovative ReSet Call Point. The original resettable manual call point with a glass-like operating element has since been joined by a waterproof model.
Acclaimed as the new and improved Stopper®, the Euro Stopper® boasts an improved hinge, 96 dB sounder, and unique Glow Guide technology. The versatile cover continues to provide a solution to false alarms in both fire safety and access control systems.
Taylor House, named in Jack’s honour, incorporates bigger offices, production and warehouse facilities. Attending the open day of his namesake, Jack commented that the original Stopper had ‘totally exceeded his expectations, from humble beginnings in his Detroit basement it is now sold the world over – from the Empire State Building to Ski Dubai, the Cutty Sark to the Nou Camp.
A home from home, 3,500 miles from Airport Road, Waterford, the USA to Airport Business Park, Waterford, Ireland; STI acquired a new European Distribution Hub in 2021. Complementing our EMEA office, the Ireland Hub further enhances a number of operational and strategic improvements enabling STI to better serve the needs of European customers.
